Learning 2.0 The future of libraries

Technology is changing every profession and every professional needs to keep learning new things. That is the marvelousness of Learning 2.0. Hopefully there will continue to be resources like this as technology continues to advance.

In the readings there was a mention of libraries no longer having a monopoly of information. Information is there on the internet. While I believe it is critically important to create internet options, like the state library where you can down load audio books, libraries are still vitally important. They are the place that is keeping the digital divide from becoming a digital chasm. Individuals who do not have internet access at home can use technology at the library.

I am a regular library patron and have noticed an increase in the busyness of the library with the downfall of the economy. No money for a movie... go to the library and check out a book.

The role of a librarian is changing, but it will continue to be a necessary and valuable profession for an educated population.
